Race Report – CoA Phoenix
Victory for KFG. Kolton Griffin dominates Round 3 of the 2016 Challenge of the Americas in Glendale, AZ.
Rounds 3 and 4 of Andy Seesemann’s FTK Promotions Challenge of the Americas was held on February 27, 2016 at PKRA.
The streak in Senior Shifter came to an end Saturday with Kolton Griffin defending his home track. The Pure Karting / Tony Kart pilot set fast time in qualifying, only to lose in the Prefinal to a holeshot win by point leader and Tucson sweeper Jake French (Dallas Karting Complex / Sodi Kart). French grabbed the holeshot again to begin the Final, with Griffin on his bumper. The Phoenix driver took over the lead on lap nine, and never looked back as he pulled out to a four-second advantage. -ekartingnews.com
On Sunday, Griffin (Pure Karting / Tony Kart) set fast time in qualifying and worked by French for the win in the Prefinal. Griffin was unable to get a better launch off the starting grid, as French took over the lead on the opening circuit. Kolton hounded the Texan, waiting for any mistakes. None was made and French took his third win of the season. Griffin settled for second with Jacob Neal (VRP / Tony Kart) earning an impressive third step on the podium over Harold Gottacker IV (Champion Racing / Intrepid) and Kol Bailey (Pure Karting / Tony Kart). -ekartingnews.com
